Vilnius District sees record population growth in a decade

As the population of Vilnius District continues to grow, in the year 2022 we reached the record population growth in a decade, with 5 806 new inhabitants per year, and more than 15 500 new inhabitants over the entire decade.

According to the data of the State Enterprise Centre of Registers, a total of 114 634 inhabitants (including in the account residents without the place of residence) declared their residence in Vilnius District Municipality.

Avižienai eldership remains one of the largest and fastest growing elderships. While exactly 10 years ago the eldership had only 7 411 inhabitants, in 2022 this number has more than doubled to 15 611 inhabitants, with 1 766 new inhabitants having settled in the Avižieniai over the last year. The second largest eldership in 2022 was Nemėžis eldership with 9 996 inhabitants, followed by Zujūnai (9 055 inhabitants) in third place.

Other suburban elderships are also growing rapidly: Riešė eldership with 8 030 inhabitants, Pagiriai eldership with 7 742 inhabitants, Mickūnai eldership with 6 597 inhabitants and others.
