On January 16th, a new large bus was handed over to the community of the Nemenčinė Disability Day Employment Center. The bus was purchased by Vilnius district municipality using funds provided by European Union.
The new M3 class tourist bus is adapted for the transport of disabled people, has 52 passenger seats, a folding electric lift with a platform for wheelchair use, inscriptions in Braille and all the conditions for comfortable travel.
Jadvyga Ingelevič, director of the Nemenčinė Disability Day Employment Center, inspected the bus last month, is pleased that visitors of the Center are finally able to see and try out the bus on their own.
"All of us rushed to see the new bus, which will serve us on tourist trips. We are already planning new trips and are looking forward to the bus being tested by our visitors and their family members. We will no longer be forced to rent a bus that is able to accompany medical needs of our visitors.“ says J. Ingelevič.
The operation of the bus for the transport of disabled people is one of the activities provided for in the project No J08-CPVA-V-01-0001 "Implementation of the development strategy of the functional zone of Šalčininkai+", which is implemented together with the Šalčininkai district municipality in accordance with priority 4 "Promotion of energy efficiency, production and use of energy efficiency and renewable energy", priority 7 "Promotion of quality employment and participation in the labour market" of the Operational Programme for the European Union Funds Investments for 2014-2020, priority 7 "Promotion of quality employment and participation in the labour market", Joint measure no. J08-CPVA-V "Development of functional zones" of priority 8 "Increasing social inclusion and combating poverty" and priority 10 "Public management of needs of society".
