decoration

The Lithuanian Red Cross, supported by the President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda, is carrying out a campaign to supply power generators and sleeping bags to Ukraine, which was also joined by Vilnius district municipality, giving Ukraine 5 6kW power generators that run on gasoline.

The purchased power generators will be handed over to the Lithuanian Red Cross, which collects humanitarian aid, today, on January 9th, and will soon be delivered to Ukraine. It is hoped that the donated generators will reach the municipality's long-term cooperation partners – the city of Sambir which will distribute them to the municipalities-partners of their country.

Vilnius district municipality and the residents of the district organize humanitarian assistance to the city of Sambir and join the ongoing support actions, providing the most necessary and important things, from the very beginning of the war. In March 2022, humanitarian aid was collected and sent to the city of Sambir. Not only residents, establishments and institutions of the district contributed to the support, but also the Municipality, which bought towels, pillows, sheets, bedding, sleeping bags, tourist mats, children's toys. the Nemenčinė Day Employment Centre for the Disabled bought supplies of long-lasting food. The collected support was distributed to the Ukrainians, who, due to the war, were obliged to leave eastern Ukraine and look for a safer place.

We thank all those who did not remain indifferent during this difficult period for Ukraine and who contributed to the aid.
