From March 2nd to 5th, Vilnius District Municipality organized the collection of humanitarian aid for the long-term cooperation partners of the municipality – residents of the Ukrainian city of Sambir. Humanitarian aid, which departed on March 16th, has already reached its destination. The people of Sambir and its government expresses their gratitude to all those who have contributed to the support for their help to the people suffering from the war.

On March 16th, a small cargo truck loaded with essentials left for Rzeszów (Poland). Within a few days we managed to collect: warm blankets, sleeping bags, tourist mats, mattresses, towels, new clothes, essential hygiene items, folding beds, bedding sets, household buckets, disinfectants, quick-preparation food, electric heaters, etc.

The Municipality also contributed to the support by buying towels, pillows, sheets, bedding, sleeping bags, tourist mats, children's toys. The day employment center for the disabled in Nemenčinė bought long-lasting food supplies.

The items have already been distributed to Ukrainians, who had to leave eastern Ukraine in search of a safer place due to the war. They are currently staying in the school gyms of the city of Sambir.

"We welcomed a lot of Ukrainians from eastern Ukraine and settled them in school gyms. Thanks to the humanitarian aid you sent, we were able to accommodate them properly. Thank you all," reads the message from the authorities of the city of Sambir.

Once again, we thank everyone who responded to the invitation of the Municipality, contributed to the supply of support and did not remain indifferent during this difficult period for Ukraine.
