Collected humanitarian aid is on its way to the Ukrainian city of Sambir

In response to a request sent by long-time cooperation partners from the Ukrainian city of Sambir, Vilnius District Municipality organized a humanitarian aid collection for the city of Sambir and its residents on the days of March 2nd to 5th. Within a few days, with Your help, we managed to collect the necessary items, which will soon reach the city of Sambir.

Yesterday, on 16 March, a loaded cargo van began its journey towards Rzeszów (Poland) and should reach the city of Sambir in the nearest future. Within a few days we managed to collect: warm blankets, sleeping bags, tourist mats, mattresses, towels, new clothes, essential toiletries, folding beds, bedding sets, household buckets, disinfectants, fast-preparation food, electric heaters, etc.

The Municipality also contributed to the support by buying towels, pillows, sheets, bedding, sleeping bags, tourist mats, children's toys. The day employment center for the disabled in Nemenčinė bought long-lasting food supplies.

We also thank Council members, cultural centres and municipality employees for help in providing aid. Municipality workers were also involved in collecting, sorting and loading humanitarian aid items which are now on their way to the destination.

We thank everyone who responded to the invitation of the Municipality, contributed to the aid and expresses their support during this difficult time for Ukraine.
